ABA & IBI

If your child has been diagnosed with Autism, Exceptional Minds Adaptive Learning Services Inc. can help by creating an individualized service plan, based on the functional needs of the child and family.  Each of our programs are designed to target specific goals for each child as we believe that there is not a “one size fits all” approach but rather, programs have to be individualized to meet the specific needs of each child.

We offer an eclectic approach to ABA/IBI Therapy where some goals would include: attention, compliancy, self-regulation, building expressive/receptive language, increased communication skills, adapting/following school and home routines, social skills development, appropriate play skills, academic progress, addressing sensory needs, and motor development.

What is ABA Therapy

Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically structured learning approach which teaches a student to learn through repetition and reward. A highly individualized therapy program that outlines specific goals is created by a clinical supervisor during a comprehensive assessment. Your child’s program is continually updated as your child progresses.

Through ABA children develop new skills and gain independence while reducing any challenging behaviour.

What is IBI Therapy

Intensive Behavioural Intervention (IBI) is is an individualized, intensive program that breaks down the barriers that isolate children with autism from the world around them. IBI is usually done in a private space in one-on-one sessions. Children ‘learn to learn’ behaviours such as imitation, attention-span and co-operation.

Through IBI children learn via the principles of ABA in a more intensive and individually based setting to foster behaviour improvements.
